More Docs appointments

Christopher went back to the doc yesterday. He is growing like a weed....he is now 21inches and 8lbs 5oz! Can you imagine if he would have been born on his scheduled date? Phew...good thing he did come early! Doc said he is healthy and looks good, he did okay limited visitors, but says we really need to still keep other children away from him until he at least reaches his original due date which was Oct. 3rd. It's RSV season and we definitely don't want him to contract that. Even with Thomas being sick we have limited their contact with each other. Let's just hope Christopher's immune system is getting really strong!!

Otherwise he is as cute as ever, he has the brightest eyes, I'll be posting some pics here soon....it's hard to get pics of him with his eyes open considering he's usually sleeping!! My friend Melani says she thinks he is just a figment of my imagination because she never hears him cry or fuss, and she has yet to see him....but trust me he does exist and he is just as beautiful as his big brother! So stay tuned I'll post some pics in the next day or so!

Better Late than Never

Well after Christopher's unexpected, early arrival, we weren't able to move into the new house. And finally this weekend....we did! WHEW what a pain....although I had the easy part, watch Thomas and Christopher, Steven did all the heavy lifting and moving along with a couple of guys from work. Now we just need to finish all the work we started and get unpacked! It was a very peaceful 1st night, Thomas slept like a rock considering he's been sick, Steven slept like a rock....only ones up were me and Christopher....every couple of hours!

We want to send out a big huge Thank You to everyone that has helped with this whole move, whether by painting, moving, fixing things, or just helping to watch Thomas, Mom and David and Bonnie we couldn't have done it without you guys! As soon as we're all settled and have it all set up, I'll try to get some pics or a short virtual tour of the place!

And for everyone who is just dying to come and see Christopher, we go back to the doc on Wednesday, let's hope they clear him for visitors! So keep checking back!

Doc's updates

Well Christopher had his first doctor's appointment on Monday, and the doc said he is in perfect health. Between Friday morning when the nurse came out to check on him and Monday when he saw the doc he put on 5 oz and grew 3/4 of an inch! But he is almost back up to his birth weight! He said his lungs sound clear and he is beautiful. He wants us to limit his visitors because even though he is "full size" he is still a premie and his immune system is still lagging behind. So of course Big Brother Thomas is sick and not feeling well, so we even need to limit his exposure to him as well!

I had my doc appointment today, and not only did I lose the 16lbs I put on through out this pregnancy but I lost an additional 9 lbs!! I was shocked! And my doc said I picked a heck of a weight loss program! haha So now I just need to get it all toned back up and hopefully get my pre-Thomas figure back! Other than that she said I just need to take it easy and not try to do too much...Yeah right, I reminded her I have an almost 16month old! But other than that everything looks great. I have almost no pain from the c-section and I just need to have all my blood work run again for the anemia as well as making sure I do not have any residual effects of diabetes.

So aside from Thomas' runny nose we are all home, healthy and happy!! And we are hoping to move into the new house this weekend!
Life doesn't get much better!!!

Thomas meets his little brother

Well Christopher was able to come home on Thursday night with a clean bill of health. Since Thomas was already in bed when we got home he had to wait until Friday morning to meet his little brother.

Mommy got Thomas up like any usual morning, only difference is, when Daddy came out of the bedroom he had a little squirming, noise making bundle....

Thomas was very gentle with the first meeting, but now he just really wants to play with him. He doesn't know his own strength sometimes, and it will definitely be a learning experience for him. But in the mean time Christopher sleeps a lot of the time and we do all we can to make Thomas feel just as important as he is! And as I keep telling him, he has the most important job of all....he is the Big Brother!!!

Our First Photo

Since this was all so sudden we didn't have our photographer in the O.R. like we did last time. She was at home watching Thomas! (Thanks Mom) And since it was all so sudden we didn't think to even grab a camera when we left, we actually didn't think we were having a baby that night. So we got lucky, the anisteisologist had an iphone and took our first pic for us....and we finally got it through the email. So I thought I would post it.

Please Welcome....

Well I know ya'll weren't expecting this post until at least the end of the month....

But please let me introduce to you the newest member of our happy little family....

Christopher James, or C.J. for short! He made his entrance into the world on the 6th of September at 11:23pm weighing in at 7lbs 13oz and 19 1/4 inches long.

It was quite a funny story actually. Steven had worked most of the day at the house, we were hoping to move in Sunday. So after working all day to try to get as much done as possible so we can move in, he came home and attempted to pack up the apartment. I was supposed to be watching Thomas but he seemed to keep getting in Dad's way....so Dad came out and asked Mom what's wrong? And I said I don't know....I don't feel well, like I am going to throw up. So he took Thomas outside for a little walk and just as they came back in mom is puking in the sink. Hmmm....okay well maybe I'll feel better now. Well nope, I started having contractions, and finally at about 8pm told Steven that if it didn't subside I might need to go to the hospital. So finally at about 9pm, as soon as Steven got out of the shower I told him my mom was on her way over to watch Thomas because I needed to go to the hospital. So we walk down stairs waiting for her and I proceed to barf again! Well at least that was out of the way, now we can make our way to the hospital. So I call the doc on the way to the hospital and we get settled in and I barf several move times! They hook me up to monitors and sure enough I am contracting. Now he obviously knew that they would stop the labor before 36 weeks, because he was 36weeks and 1 day!! So after several calls to the specialist to confirm it's okay to take him, he said go ahead and section her. So they did, and our second son came into the world at 11:23pm. Unfortunately he did have trouble breathing! So after a brief hello to mom and dad and a real quick pic by the doc....off the the NICU he went. Not only did he have to go to the NICU but he had to go to a completely different hospital NICU. So mom didn't even get her first snuggle with Christopher until today.

Well it was certainly not a fun stay for mom in the hospital. Not only did she not have her 2nd born close by, but she couldn't even pick up her 1st born! It was a rough go. Mom was hoping to get out of the hospital Monday morning but due to blood work that showed mom needed a blood transfusion, we had to wait, the doc wanted to avoid that at all costs. So then hoping to get out Tuesday morning, Mom had an awful night in the hospital with suspicions of a pulmonary embolism, which is basically a blood clot from the leg that settles in the lung. All kinds of pain and tests were run and all came back normal, all the CT scan of the chest showed was a small fluid build up in the lungs, like what starts pneumonia. And due to the csection a whole lot of air built up in the cavity. So needless to say mom did not get to go home on Tuesday. Which was probably a good thing anyway because Dad was home sick and so was grandma! Phew what a challenging few days! So Wednesday mom finally gets discharged and gets to see Christopher really for the first time!

Christopher is thriving and we are hoping to have him home tomorrow or Friday. He only had his breathing tube in for about 6 hours. He had an IV in him for a couple of days and now he is feeding and on the blue light for jaundice, mostly as a precaution. And he can come home as early as tomorrow, but most likely by Friday. And then he will meet his big brother for the first time!

So please welcome....Christopher James

Mom's first snuggle!

Snoozing

Looks like he's biting his lip!

Wide awake now that you are here Mom!

Now what could he be possibly be thinking about?

Doctor's updates....

Well I went to see my doc yesterday, she said despite all my laughing and joking around she can see how uncomfy I am! She also said that despite the contractions I have daily she can't take the baby earlier than 37 weeks.....some stupid oath that they take as doctors HAHA Anyway, unless it's life threatening she can't take him before 37 weeks unless I go into labor on my own. In which case, if it's before 36 weeks, and I go to the hospital, they will stop the labor....if it's after 36 weeks then they can go ahead with the c-section. So I told her I'll wait until the water breaks before I go to the hospital if it's before 36 weeks....which is in just a few days anyway. So I have to wait until at least the 18th before she can take him without me filing a malpractice suit. I joked and told her I would sign a release. And then she reminded me that if he were to be born early and his lungs weren't developed and ended up in the NICU then I would feel like the worst mother in the world. And I know she is right but then I asked about steroids to help develop the lungs and she said it's too late for that, they could do an amino to see if they are developed but that would probably just throw me into early labor anyway. So we're still pregnant until at least the 18th! After that she will work with me to do all she can. Only problem is Grandma will still be in Italy until the 28th....so she might miss this birth! All we can do now is wait and see. So although she didn't put me on full bed rest she does want me taking it easy. She told me she could put me in the hospital and I told her I didn't want that because then I can't be with Thomas. So I will make sure I don't do too much!

Speaking of Thomas, he had his first day at his pre-pre school thingie, and they said he did as well as can be expected. He cried off and on for the few hours that he was there but he did love going outside and playing with all the table top toys they have! He didn't eat much in the way of lunch but he just needs to get used to it, they feed him at 11, and that is really early for lunch for him. So once he gets the hang of things I hope he thrives there. If not then he'll be stuck at home with mommy and his little brother for those 2 days a week in the mornings. haha

I think it was harder on mommy than it was on Thomas though....I guess trust is everything. After a year of leaving him every day with the nanny, I thought it would be a piece of cake to take him to a pre-school type of setting....but I know he's safe with the Nanny and I trust her to do what's right for him. Now this new place will have to earn my trust so that I can feel just as comfy leaving him there! Even if it is only 2 days a week for a few hours each time!!
